.: Juliana Voloz

Juliana was born in Estonia, graduated from Tallinn Technical University as a chemical engineer, and subsequently worked for ten years at the Institute of Marine Research in Tallinn (Estonia). Her research focused on the chemistry, biology, and ecology of the Baltic Sea. As a university student Juliana became interested in macro photography, initially as a hobby. Later, when she moved with her family to Sweden, she studied with the Swedish photographers Johan Westin and Ralf Pergande. Juliana has had solo exhibitions in Estonia, Russia, Sweden, and Germany. She has published photos in Germany, Sweden, Russia, and France. Her works are hung in offices and featured in private collections in the USA, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, France, Canada, Ecuador, Venezuela, Japan, and Thailand. With her camera she captures small, often simple and ordinary objects which are overlooked by most viewers, such as grass stalks, feathers, pears, or water droplets. Through Julia’s camera lens and artist’s eyes these objects draw attention to themselves and evoke a quiet fascination. They demonstrate the richness of the visible world, and the possibility of discovering its details in our own background.
